Excitement in the Air

Morning Fly-bys

The morning of the event gives attendees the chance to see a variety of experimental aircraft in flight. Starting at 9:00 AM both Saturday and Sunday, you will enjoy a range of ultralight and homebuilt aircraft. An announcer will provide you details and exciting commentary on each aircraft.

The good people at Goodyear have generously agreed to fly one of the Goodyear Blimps around the Camarillo Airport in the mornings of the 21st and 22nd.  They will be flashing a message about the air and ground event “Wings Over Camarillo”.  When you are at the Camarillo Airport be sure to look up and wave at the Goodyear Blimp.  The “Spirit of America” is stationed right here in southern California at Carson.

Pilots and Planes

This year we have more aircraft than ever taking to the skies during the air portions of the event, both Saturday and Sunday. Many of these planes are privately owned and maintained. Many are flown by the owner pilot. This is a rare chance to see these beautifully maintained aircraft flying.

Here are a few highlights:

Formation Flights

Three sets of formation flights are planned. In order to safely be accomplished, formation flying requires special skill and talent, as well as a significant amount of practice and training. We are lucky to have these formations flying.

Five Nanchang, CJ-6,  aircraft will do a formation fly-by.  The Nanchang is a Chinese Trainer.

There will also be a formation flight of Navions.  The Navion has a proud history of military usage as well as civilian use.

We are lucky to have the Condor Squadron of AT-6s flying in from Van Buys Airport..Condor Squadron

Other Highlights

The Ventura County Sheriff's Department will be doing a water drop on one day and a simulated rescue hoist lift on the second day.

The four hour narrated flying exhibition will conclude with exciting flyby of WWII fighters, bombers, transports and trainers thundering past the viewers in a modified fur ball.  This is going to be an experience you don't want to miss.
